My art has been accepted 7 consecutive times in the annual juried exhibits of ISEA - The International Society of Experimental Artists - I have been awarded Nautilus Fellow Signature status in ISEA. In 2011 I was awarded Signature status in the National Watercolor Society - NWS. My art has been awarded an ISEA Cutting edge Award in 2010 and an NWS national tour in 2011. My art has been selected in Europe and the USA for corporate, public, medical facility and private collections. My paintings have 3 times been invited to hang in the Michigan State Capitol building. I have had solo public exhibits in Michigan public libraries, Art and Cultural Centers and governmental offices.
In January 2013 I opened Art Gallery 318 Fine Art at 318 East Main Suite A in Lowell MI for my paintings and mixed media artwork.
I owned Fire and Water ART through December 2012 - a fabulous 1600 square foot gallery in Lowell, Michigan. Here I had my working studio, taught classes and enjoyed the company of 25 leading award winning local artists. Fire and Water ART was at 219 West Main Street in historic Lowell for six years.
I love to travel and try to get to Ireland every year - the colors are great, the history is deep and the ocean is beautiful! Here in Michigan I try to spend a lot of time in my kayak exploring local rivers, the big lake and the Upper Peninsula.
I create artwork to raise awareness of the steps we can each take to protect our natural resources and precious waters. I work with Save The Wild U.P. to protect and defend the Yellow Dog River near Marquette www.savethewildup.org and The Waterkeeper Alliance - an international group that works to protect and restore water quality - everything from tiny streams to the vast oceans www.waterkeeper.org
Some of my projects are -
Yellow Dog - 15 + paintings / a dozen photographs / a book / a solo art exhibit - my artist's reaction to the threatened destruction of the pristine wilderness area near Marquette MI by the Kennecott Eagle mine. You need to know more about this important issue www.savethewildup.org
Travel - my annual trips to the Atlantic coasts of Europe - usually the Dingle Peninsula of Ireland - feed my fascination with Signs and Symbols from prehistoric and ancient times, reward me with vast horizons and restore me with heart achingly beautiful ocean energy. Most recently in April and May 2009 - 31 original paintings and a book. To see some of the beauty of the Dingle Peninsula see www.dodingle.com
DVD movies of my travels - these are usually exhibited during my "talks" about traveling and painting. Yes, if you would like me to talk to your group about Ireland, Neolithic Art or my travels as an artist - please contact me. Neolithic, Prehistoric, Ancient and Indigenous Art takes my breath away...
Art Books - I self publish through www.blurb.com/bookstore and I paint in - and from time to time construct - original one of a kind artist books.
ISEA - The International Society of Experimental Artists - this group has inspired me in countless rewarding ways. To learn about the ISEA annual exhibits see www.iseaartexhibit.org I have been awarded ISEA Signature status in the Nautilus Fellowship and in 2010 Cutting Edge award.
NWS - The National Watercolor Society - Their annual exhibition has over 1,000 entries from the strongest water media artists from all over the world. My painting "Coordinates" was accepted in the 2011 Exhibition in San Pedro CA and was one of 30 of 100 exhibition paintings selected to be awarded a one year national tour to 6 locations in five states.
Thom Jayne - a talented and inspiring musician - who is kind enough to allow me to use his rich and powerful music in my DVD movies and presentations - his music is the soundtrack of my art - www.cdbaby.com/thomjayne2
